MED-Hubs: Driving blue innovation in the Mediterranean
2025 – 2027
MED-Hubs is a 2-years’ journey to turn Western Mediterranean blue-economy ideas into market solutions. Two interconnected hubs anchor the work: Spain focuses on marine renewable energy; Italy on sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. Open calls will be launched to accelerate blue innovations in Trusted Pilots, and an expansion track to replicate success across regions. The project is co-funded under EMFAF-2025-PIA-FLAGSHIP.
This journey is supported by a coalition that brings policy, tech, territory, and impact together: Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena guides coordination; DEEP Ecosystems powers community, research and replication in other regions; Comunidad Autónoma de la Región de Murcia and the Federación de Municipios de la Región de Murcia connect local governments and ports; alda* – European Association for Local Democracy engages communities; Justonearth and MALTAccelerate accelerate market uptake; Venice Lagoon Plastic Free and Changemakers Agency drive awareness and field action; Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar – CTN and Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione provide testbeds and industrial links.
