It was a great pleasure to represent the MED-Hubs consortium at the alda* – European Association for Local Democracy General Assembly & Festival 2026 in Malta.
The interactive panel “From Blue Economy to Local Democracy — how can communities shape water governance”, arranged by ALDA’s Environment and Climate Hub, featured a presentation of the MED-Hubs project followed by a very exciting and engaging discussion on how participatory approaches can bridge the gap between blue economy development and democratic governance, exploring how local communities can play an active role in shaping sustainable solutions.
MALTAccelerate shared experiences and case studies from its extensive Blue Economy expertise, and brought to the table examples from an island context like Malta, where climate change, water management, and coastal resilience are critical challenges, highlighting the role of initiatives like MED-Hubs in bridging innovation and local democracy.
Sincere thanks to ALDA’s team for the invite to be active part in such a highly interesting and very professionally arranged event.
